I just finished a great weekend reading at the 2025 ASAT Conference at Baylor University. I was excited to read with such accomplished writers (Sid Balman, Jr., Naomi Shihab Nye, Hector Weir, and John Schulze)!

Wonderful news! I just completed an interview about my writing with Clifford Brooks, III, for The Blue Mountain Review. It should appear in the August issue of the magazine. Cliff is an incredible poet, and it was an honor to have someone considered for a Pulitzer take an interest in my writing. Thank you, Cliff! This has been truly Amazing!

I just tried out one of the new image generating AIs to illustrate a few of the characters from my forthcoming or published stories. I used Bing. They came out pretty awesome. While I know graphic designers are probably not loving the generators, I do have to say they are pretty cool tech.

I just found out my story “Bend in the River” is set to be published by HellBound Books in their upcoming Kids Are Hell! anthology. I will post again when it hits the market. They are also the publisher of Darce Stoker, great grand-nephew of Bram Stoker, and best selling author, and New Apple Award Winner Craig Stewart. I am happy and humbled to be among such great authors.

I am thrilled! I just found out my story “Bend in the River” is a finalist for Crystal Lake Publishing’s flash-fiction contest. Crystal Lake Publishing is one of the biggest names in the indie-horror scene. They have numerous Bram Stoker Awards and were recently given the Special Press Award by the Horror Writers Association (HWA). I am pleased to announce that my poem “Cosmic Dexterity” is set to appear in the Dec. 2021 issue of Down in the Dirt. You can read it now by clicking the image. My poem was inspired by their cover illustration from a cool NASA photo. I was invited to submit a haiku based on it, and my poem might even lend the issue its name. We’ll just have to see.

Exciting news! The Children’s Ghost Story in America—my book! —just got a positive review in The Lion and Unicorn (Johns Hopkins University Press), one of the bigger scholarly journals focused on children’s literature, reviewed by Anne W. Anderson. She called my book “delightfully written” and said it “could be the impetus for ghost-hunting scholars to explore children’s literature through broader cultural lenses and from deeper philosophical and spiritual perspectives” (381). I couldn’t be happier.
